Objectives

To familiarise students with the thematic and regional aspects and theory required for their MSc thesis research, and to enable them to formulate the objectives of the research, to write the research proposal and to prepare and organise the field research

Content

Hands-on experience with field equipment and software. A desk-study (literature, maps, reports, etc.). Organisation of field research logistics.

Modes of instruction

Field work, laboratory work, writing a literature review and a research proposal. This is supervised daily.

Assessment

The student hands in a written literature review and research proposal.

Matlab scripts
Please install the Wafo, Mace and UUtools toolboxes. With sufficient privileges it should be possible to install a toolbox under matlabroot\toolbox\nameoftoolbox, where matlabroot looks like C:\Program Files\Matlab\R2006a\toolbox and nameoftoolbox is wafo for example. To make it available to Matlab, this directory (including subdirectories) must be added by starting Matlab, clicking File and Set Path.
