Content

What does a river look like, and why? The course River Morphodynamics has been updated and now contains the latest scientific results and applications, illustrated with examples from all over the globe. Natural morphological patterns of channels and bars are discussed, but also present-day problems in river management that will dominate in the coming decade.

Modes of instruction

There will be practical exercises on fluid mechanics and sediment transport and a computer practicum (Excel) to study general morphology of hundreds of rivers from the Dommel (Dutch brook) to the Mississippi.
