Fluid mechanics I

Objectives

To impart knowledge of the basics of fluid statics, kinematics and dynamics, including the computation techniques.

Content

Types of fluid flows, fluid characteristics, statics (isotropy, hydrostatic pressure), kinematics (streamlines, accelerations, deformation, continuity equation), dynamics (laminar and turbulent flow, equation of motion, flow resistance formulae, velocity profile), long waves (river flood waves, tidal waves, Kelvin waves)
